About the NMETE

The New Mexico English Teacher Exchange (NMETE) strives to increase student retention and success at the college or university level by providing current high school students with a college experience at their own school. NMETE recognizes that helping high school students anticipate and prepare for the demands of college can help them succeed when they transition to a higher level of education.

Towards this end, the program increases communication and collaboration among teachers of secondary and post-secondary English. NMETE creates inter-level partnerships, allowing teachers to work with others outside of their institution, increasing understanding among the teachers themselves as well as their students. These partnerships have been credited with increased understanding of student needs, experiences, and abilities among teachers.
